Stop the Rattle: How to Use Silicone to Secure Glass Pane Cabinets in Your Kitchen

If you have glass pane cabinets in your kitchen, you may have experienced the frustrating issue of rattling glass. This can happen when the little clips that hold the glass in place become loose over time. However, there is a simple solution that can prevent this rattling and make your cabinets more secure.

In this YouTube video, I share my experience with fixing my glass pane cabinets. I have an older home with wooden cabinets that have glass in the middle. The cabinets were held together with clips that had become loose, causing the glass to rattle. I wanted to find a solution that would prevent this rattling and make the cabinets more secure.

After going to Lowe's and looking at pre-made kitchen cabinets, I realized that they did not use clips to hold the glass in place. Instead, they used silicone to secure the glass. I bought a 10-ounce tube of GE advanced silicone and a caulking gun to apply it. I used the caulking gun to spread the silicone evenly and steadily around the edges of the glass.

I found that the silicone was thick enough that it was not visible on the wooden edges of the cabinets. I was able to lay out all of the cabinet doors on a table and apply the silicone in a steady and precise manner. The result was cabinets that were secure and did not rattle.

In some of the cabinets, I found little clips that were holding the glass in place. I left these clips in place and applied the silicone around them. This resulted in cabinets that were even more secure than before.

Overall, using silicone to secure the glass in your cabinets is a simple and effective solution that can prevent rattling and make your cabinets more secure. If you have glass pane cabinets and are experiencing rattling glass, consider trying this method to fix the issue.
