Hotel Family Fun in Carlsbad, New Mexico

Games & Grilling at the Hotel in Carlsbad, NM

The Travel Vlog Family

We're staying at the MainStay Suites in Carlsbad, and while we're here, we need to get some ice cream. We promised the kids we would because they did a good job hiking today. Then, we're going to go to the grocery store. They have grills at this hotel, so we'll grill some steaks tonight. It's going to be delicious. We might go downtown and find something else to do because we have no clue what there is to do here aside from the Carlsbad Caverns, which we're going to tomorrow.

The Hotel

Our hotel room is nice. We have a kitchen and extra space, a closet and a huge bathroom. We have a great view. I told Denise from the front desk we have a two-year-old and two kids, so having a room with a little extra room would be great. She hooked us up.

Ice Cream

The receipt from our ice cream was the first we've received in Spanish. Everything came out to $13.46. I got the homemade coconut popsicle. Becket wanted ice cream, but he didn't eat it because there were toys in the shop. Then, we spent $87.07 on groceries.

Laundry

A lot of travel vloggers don't talk about laundry, but we'll tell you about it because we document all of our expenses for you. We brought a roll of quarters, and at this hotel, it costs $1.75 to wash and $1.50 to dry. We use dehydrated laundry detergent sheets that dissolve in water. We bought them and tried them at home before taking them on our trip, and they worked really well. You don't have to carry liquid laundry detergent or pods that could burst. We did two loads for a total of $6.50. We tried to space out our hotels and Airbnbs, hoping to stay at Airbnbs with free laundry, but unfortunately, we needed to get laundry done sooner, so we had to spend money.

Games & Grilling

The hotel has games you can check out for free. They have Sorry!, Candy Land, Monopoly, cornhole, and a giant Connect 4 board. It's a great way to occupy your kids while you grill. Once everything was cooked, we went up to the room to eat our steaks and sausages. Our room overlooked a beautiful New Mexico route, and when we opened our sofa bed, the mattress was still wrapped in plastic. The hotel is that new.

For breakfast the next morning, we had waffles and bacon and made some eggs. The hotel breakfast was one of those bag breakfasts we had last year at a Marriott, but since our room had such an awesome kitchen, we were able to cook. Today we're going to Carlsbad Caverns, and we are very excited. If you want to see the inside of the caves, click the link below for a video. Thank you, and keep traveling somewhere!
