I told you I would start showing things around Lafayette, and the first place I want to go to is St. John's Cathedral. It's an awesome cathedral in Lafayette, Louisiana. First, I need to run a couple of errands. I'll go to the bank and the P.O. box because I got an email from UPS that said I have a package. We're going to have an epic mail time today. Also, Amelia's eating some oatmeal fingers and apple as part of baby-led weaning. She likes the apple best because it's delicious.
I got a few suggestions for places to go in Lafayette, such as the Cajun Dome, Avery Island, and the TABASCO factory in New Iberia. Maybe we take a family trip there; it's where I proposed to Krista. I've had a video of my proposal sitting on my computer that I've wanted to get online for a long time. I need to finish editing it.
I'm also thinking about doing a series on my YouTube channel with this type of travel thing. I like traveling, even just to show your different places around my city.
The Cathedral
We made it to St. John's Cathedral, but it looks like there's a mass right now. The parking lot is full, so I'll have to park on the street. Outside, a sign explains, "The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist - The first Church in Lafayette Parish was l'Eglise St. John du Vermilion. Built on a gift of this site by Jean Mouton in 1821." This Church is almost 200 years old.
There is also a statue of Notre Dame de L'Assomption, the patron Saint of Acadians. I went to school here from 1992 to 1996. Behind me is the St. John's Live Oak. It's a short walk away from the side of the cathedral.
The St. John Cemetery is also here. If I'm not mistaken, there is a street nearby named Ambassador Caffrey. Ambassador Caffrey and I have the same birthday, December 1, which I thought was neat. His grave says, "Ambassador Jefferson Caffrey, born December 1, 1886, died April 13, 1974." When I was in fourth grade, I was in the choir, and I got to go into the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and sing next to the big organ at mass, which was neat.

Getting a Package
We're at the UPS store, and it's time to get the mail and open the package I got. I know what it is; I recently posted a video review of the book Lights Out by David Crawford. He contacted me via YouTube direct message, thanked me for the review, and offered to send a signed copy. I wrote him back saying that'd be great.
He sent two signed copies, which is awesome - one for my barber and one for me. It's a thick book, and the print is really small, but it's fantastic. I'm still reading it. I'm on chapter 59. If you're looking for a good book, you can get a copy at Lightsoutthebook.com.
Our Evening
Once I got home, I hung out outside with Krista and Amelia on the infamous pink blanket. Amelia was so happy. Later, I went to a guys' night with some friends. We watched a movie called Shoot 'Em Up, which was a very appropriate title. If you want to see a lot of guns being fired, watch Shoot 'Em Up. I'll talk about it another time.
