How to Use Muriatic Acid to Clean Toilet Bowl

Hi everyone, In this post, I'll be sharing simple and safe steps on how to remove those stubborn hard water stains from your toilet bowl, using muriatic acid. My aim is to provide a more authentic review and use of this product.

Materials Needed

You can find these materials online and I have included links if you're interested.

Procedure

  1. Before we begin, ensure to wear your mask, safety goggles and gloves for protection as muriatic acid can be harmful to your skin.

  2. Ensure good ventilation in the bathroom by turning on the vent.

  3. Carefully pour the muriatic acid into the toilet at various spots and let it sit for around two hours.

  4. Every 30 minutes or so, scrub the areas with the stains to break them up.

  5. After two hours, when the water in the toilet has turned cloudy, neutralize the acid.

Neutralizing the Acid

Neutralizing the acid is crucial as you wouldn't want to flush potent acid down your sewer pipes. For this, we'll use the baking soda, similar to science experiments. By adding baking soda to the toilet bowl, you'll start seeing it bubble up signalling the neutralization of the acid. Keep adding until no more bubbles form when you pour it in. Once the acid is neutralized, you can now flush the toilet. Turn on the water to fill the tank up, and give it another flush, ensuring that all the deposits are flushed out.

Results

The results are quite astonishing! The toilet bowl is cleaner, with no more stains visible and even better working than before. The muriatic acid and baking soda solution worked wonderfully in cleaning the lime deposits.

Safety Reminder

Remember to always work with muriatic acid with caution, using the right safety equipment to protect your skin and body. If you have any other uses for muriatic acid, or ways to get rid of lime deposits, feel free to share in the comments. Till next time, stay safe!
