Fishing in Louisiana on the 4th of July

4th of July Fishing

The Travel Vlog Family

Happy 4 July. We're hanging out by the water, and we're going to see if Amelia can catch a fish this morning, and then hopefully, later in the afternoon, we can do some fishing. We set up a bucket with some little fish to teach her how to use a fishing pole. Jacques played with a minnow for a little while.

Then we ate some ice cream!

Around 3:30-4:00, we went out to try and do some fishing, even though it was overcast. The water still looked a little choppy and rough. We got our first catch of the day,  coming in at 16'. My next catch was a fighter, and he was huge - a beautiful 22-23". We caught two more big ones, then moved on to our next fishing spot. We caught one 12" trout, then continued to our third spot because there wasn't much else there.

We didn't do as well as I had hoped, but we still caught something. The tide was moving, but it stopped when we were tapering off, and the fish moved with the tide. We caught four in total, two big redfish, a small trout, and small redfish. I'd say that's a fair success. Kate and I caught the big ones, my dad caught the small trout, and I caught this small redfish. We caught about four more, but we couldn't keep them because they weren't long enough. We can't complain that much.
